The 2014 Ford Ranger Dual Cab Review

Andrew Wearne September 7, 2014

The 2014 Ford Ranger Dual Cab Review

Through decades of manufacturing, Ford has proven beyond doubt that it knows how to make family-friendly cars. Since it released its 97 models, Ford has revamped its models in several ways encompassing an increased cab; a new 4WD systems as well as larger room for occupants in the rear and the 2014 4WD and 2WD models are no different.

These vehicles have the highest hauling capacity, comfy cabin, a brilliantly gutsy engine, spotless safety and excellent driving characteristics. Ranger is offered in Single Cab, Double Cab and Supercab in either 4×4 or 4×2 form.

Exterior and Interior

The 2014 model is a better looker than Mazda BT-50 on which it’s based. The dash’s bold shapes and menu-based OS which could be from the newest focus. The operating system which enables major functions to be accessed with just a press of a button is as easy to use as that of its predecessors. The seats are very comfortable and you will get a laptop-friendly glove box as well as a collection of storage bins, and cup holders.

Safety

The 2014 models have also seen the addition of airbags and that earns Ford a 5-star safety rating all across the spectrum. With increasing popularity of these cars, it’s great to see that the occupant’s safety is given the emphasis it deserves, may it be in the place of work and as a family wagon. Actually, Ford has images of a vehicle that rolled over several times in an accident but all three passengers survived.

Driving experience

Ford Ranger 4×4 and 2wd dual cab’s ride quality as well comfort levels are very impressive. While Ford is not a sports vehicle, its unruffled balance and restrained body rolls makes it slow-witted and sporadically terrifying experience usually associated with the dual-cab model. It’s comfortable to drive thanks to good clearance, low-range gearing, strong approach, departure angles as well as the 800-millimetre wading depth.

Engine

There are three engines, namely 2.2-litre 4 cylinder diesel, 2.5-litre 4 cylinder petrol and 3.2-litre 5 cylinder diesel. The petrol 4 cylinder is teamed up with a five-speed manual in the presence of the 2 direct injection diesels with either automatic 6-speed or manual depending on the model.

Ford ranger 4WD and 2WD dual cab don’t disappoint on the road. They add up to receptive performance, tranquil cruising and adequate lugging ability to tow 3500kg.
